I went to Ireland on my honeymoon a number of years back and I couldn't agree with you more about tap vs bottle. Smithwicks and Guiness on tap has to be considered a completely different beer than that in a bottle or can.
So, so true. A few years back, my wife and I went to one of our fave local beer bars, The Bier Stein, and they had Smithwicks on draft. It was divine. Agree re the Guinness too -- I pretty much don't drink it outside of Ireland.
